Welding Inspector Job in Yamunanagar at Chander Group

Key Responsibilities:

• Welding Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections of welding work on pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and related components to ensure conformance to required welding procedures and codes (ASME, AWS, PED, etc.).
• Interpretation of Codes: Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and welding procedures to ensure compliance with applicable standards (ASME, AWS, PED, etc.).
• Quality Control: Perform visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) as needed to verify weld quality and structural integrity.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed inspection records, reports, and documentation related to welding processes, inspections, and test results.
• Compliance Monitoring: Ensure welding activities meet internal and external quality standards, including but not limited to safety and environmental regulations.
• Inspection of Welders: Monitor and assess the performance of welders to ensure they adhere to welding procedures, techniques, and safety protocols.
• Collaboration with Teams: Coordinate with QA/QC, engineering, and production teams to address quality issues, ensure timely execution of inspections, and resolve any non-conformance issues.
• Training & Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior welding inspectors and shop-floor personnel on best practices for welding and inspection procedures.
• Third-party Inspections: Manage and support third-party inspections and customer audits as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Educational Qualification: Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Production Engineering or equivalent.
• Certifications: Valid CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) or CSWIP 3.2.2 certification is mandatory.
• Experience: 10+ years of experience in welding inspection, particularly in heavy fabrication or pressure vessel manufacturing.
• Knowledge: In-depth understanding of ASME, AWS, PED, NDT methods, and welding inspection procedures.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems; familiarity with NDT techniques and interpretation of NDT results.

Preferred Skills:

• Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Familiarity with various NDT methods and the ability to interpret test results effectively.
• Lean Six Sigma Certification: Knowledge of Lean principles or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
• Software Knowledge: Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems (MES) and quality management software.
