Student counselors work with students, parents, and educators to help the students succeed academically and socially. They provide one-on-one emotional guidance and help students plan for their futures by guiding them in building a career.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide counselling and support to students on a variety of issues including personal, social, academic, and emotional concerns
• Conduct one-on-one counselling sessions with students to identify problems and develop solutions
• Develop and implement appropriate interventions and strategies for students in need of support
• Consult and collaborate with other professionals, including teachers and administrators, to ensure a coordinated approach to student care
• Assist in developing and implementing school-wide programs and activities to promote social and emotional well-being among students
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of counselling sessions and student progress
• Provide crisis intervention and support as needed

Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of counselling theory and techniques
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and listening skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical standards
• Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations related to counselling and student welfare
