Sr. Engineer – WHRB & CDQ Job in Chandrapur at Lloyds Metals & Energy Ltd

Key Responsibilities

1.Mechanical Execution & Supervision:

• Supervise mechanical erection and commissioning of WHRB and CDQ units.
• Installation and alignment of:
• WHRB system components: economizers, evaporator tubes, superheaters, steam drums, blowdown systems, soot blowers, and IBR piping.
• CDQ system components: pre-chamber, quenching chamber, coke bucket hoist system, cooling gas circulation fans, coke discharge equipment (crushers/screens), gas cooling and recovery system.
• Review and verify GA drawings, P&IDs, fabrication drawings, and IBR compliance documents.

2. Technical Coordination:

• Interface with technology suppliers and equipment vendors (especially Chinese and Indian OEMs) for:
• Erection sequences
• Thermal and mechanical performance parameters
• Troubleshooting during cold/hot trials and commissioning

3. Quality & Inspection

• Ensure adherence to WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) and QAP (Quality Assurance Plan).

4. Project Management Support:

• Prepare and maintain:
• Daily Progress Reports (DPR)
• Equipment erection checklist
• Inspection Test Plans (ITPs)
• Mechanical punch points and their closure
• Support the Project Manager in tracking BOQ, erection fronts, manpower deployment, and contractor billing.

5. Safety & Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR) and local statutory norms.
• Implement LOTO procedures, confined space entry standards, and safety checklists during erection and commissioning phases.

Commissioning & Handover

• Assist in steam blowing, flushing, and trial run of WHRB & CDQ systems.
• Support performance testing and load trials of ID/FD fans, HRSG system, steam turbine interface (if applicable).
• Final documentation and handover to O&M/Operations team post successful performance guarantee test (PGT).

Technical Skills Required:

• Sound knowledge of:
• Heat transfer and thermodynamics applicable to WHRB systems
• Refractory lining and expansion joint installation in CDQ chambers
• High-pressure steam piping (IBR), welding techniques (GTAW, SMAW)
• Mechanical handling systems – coke bucket elevator, vibrating feeders, crushers
• Instrumentation interface – pressure/temp transmitters, flow meters in WHRB/CDQ systems
• Familiarity with relevant codes: IBR, ASME Sec I & VIII, IS 2825, API 560, IS 2062.
