Barclays is hiring for the role of Software Engineer!

Responsibilities of the Candidate:

• Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of a centralized secure, scalable, and efficient Permissions platform.
• Input and contribute to the technical roadmap for the evolution of the group-wide Permissions platform.
• Engage with engineers to design, build, and maintain the platform, following agile software development principles.
• Ensure the highest levels of platform security and compliance.
• Optimise platform performance and efficiency.
• Identify issues and provide feedback and suggestions on operational and process improvements within the team and more broadly across the function

Requirements:

• Full stack development (web and mobile front-end technologies e.g. React), Java, APIs & microservices, PostgreSQL, data structures, workflow)
• Foundational working knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (automation, observability, incident management, resilience, disaster recovery, high availability, documentation)
• Policy Management (XACML, Open Policy Agent, OPA Gateways, OPA debugging and testing, Rego policy language, Styra DAS, Permit.io)
• Implementation of Role Based Access Control and Policy Based Access Control (Attribute Based Access Control) systems in Mandatory Access and Discretionary Access based scenarios.
• Experience with CI/CD approaches and technologies
• DevSecOps (secure coding best practices, defensive programming, security testing, data security, network security, cloud security, security compliance and regulations)
• Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform) and Containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
• AWS and Azure cloud component and services integration (RDS / Azure DB, S3 / Azure Blob)
• Workflow Tools: IBM BAW, jBPM
• CI/CD: GitLab, Jenkins, Chef, Git
• Skills that will help you in the role:
  • Hands-on developer and IAM engineering team member, who contributes to fostering collaboration and demonstrating excellence through delivery.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with people from both technical and non-technical backgrounds and with people across the organization.
  • Understanding and interest in authorization (RBAC / PBAC), permissions and security standards, capabilities, and platform engineering principles.
  • Understanding, experience, and interest in cloud and containerization technologies.
  • A passion for developing and delivering (starter-finisher) complex solutions and writing code
  • A passion for learning and obtaining new knowledge and sharing with colleagues
