Site Reliability Engineer - Azure Job in Bangalore at PhonePe

PhonePe is hiring for the role of Site Reliability Engineer - Azure!

Responsibilities of the candidate: 

• Work on enhancing reliability and performance of distributed systems and containerized environments.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot large-scale, distributed systems handling millions of requests per second.
• Operate in a Linux-heavy environment, using command-line tools and scripting for daily tasks.
• Configure and manage Linux cloud services including KVM, QEMU, and LVM.
• Handle containerization technologies such as Docker; deploy, manage, and troubleshoot containers in production.
• Set up, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Azure cloud PaaS components:
• Firewalls, VPN gateways, Load Balancers, Storage Accounts, Virtual Networks, etc.
• Use Perl, GoLang, or Python to build automation tools and scripts for system tasks.
• Manage and troubleshoot across the full stack: hardware, OS, networking, applications.
• Involve in infrastructure monitoring, proactively identifying and solving system-level issues.
• Work with MySQL and NoSQL databases, contributing to availability and performance optimization (good to have).
• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations, responding to infrastructure alerts and incidents.
• Design, build, and maintain core infrastructure to scale with PhonePe’s growing user base.
• Take active part in system analysis and continuous improvement planning.
• Lead performance testing, capacity planning, and implement high availability standards.
• Own and implement new technologies, ensuring testing, documentation, and seamless rollout.
• Foster a team-first culture, mentor new team members ("buddy system") and prepare them for production roles.
• Maintain thorough documentation for systems, procedures, and troubleshooting playbooks.
