Seagate is hiring for the role of Senior Hardware Engineer!

Responsibilities of the Candidate:

  • Investigate hardware technologies for efficient data storage, including edge analytics and mass capacity storage.
  • Explore new mechanisms in electronic hardware modelling and realization.
  • Design, assemble, and oversee fabrication, testing, validation, and documentation for hardware development using upcoming technologies such as computational storage.
  • Assist in generating and conceptualizing new ideas, contributing to the development of sought-after architectures and building proofs of concepts with senior architects and junior engineers.
  • Utilize scientific knowledge and formal systems to find practical solutions to daily problems.
  • Work on complex operations aimed at gaining efficiency, productivity, and accuracy.
  • Develop hardware designs on boards primarily targeted at FPGA platforms for electronics subsystems developed at SRG.
  • Support the development of new features, functionalities, and customer issue resolutions.
  • Design printed circuit board digital and analogue circuits.
  • Create schematic symbols, component geometries, and electronic components using Mentor Graphics PADS or similar software.
  • Create drawings, Gerber files, and other documentation for PCB fabrication, assembly, and internal verification.
  • Work with the design team to identify test failure root causes, and implement, and verify corrective actions.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of performance and stability.
  • Evaluate alternative approaches to assist in developing solutions.
  • Collaborate with other development teams to ensure full integration of all system parts.
  • Drive electronics hardware engineering activities such as design, testing, checkout, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices, or specialized test equipment.
  • Perform operational tests and fault isolation on electronic sub-systems and equipment, assisting in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions.
  • Assist in the design, construction, testing, and checkout of test suites using manufacturing, test, development, or diagnostic equipment, including but not limited to test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and specialized test apparatus.

Requirements:

  • Possesses experience in board bring-up, hardware engineering, and post-hardware testing
  • Be proficient in RTL, C, and C++ programming, with debugging skills
  • Have working knowledge of Unix-based operating systems
  • Hold experience in system design
  • Demonstrate strong exposure to FPGAs and the relevant RTL to FPGA netlist flow
  • Possess knowledge of processor architectures such as ARM and RISC-V (an added plus)
  • Creative, independent and self-starter individual with excellent written and interpersonal communication who would be looking forward to working with and in a corporate set-up
  • Hands-on approach to problem solving
  • Teamwork is a core competency at Seagate, individual must be able to work and communicate effectively with a diverse group of engineers
  • Must have demonstrated ability to study a functional area in depth
  • Ability to present to colleagues and partners
