Optum is hiring for the role of Senior Data Scientist!

Responsibilities of the Candidate:

• Developing Advanced Models: Creating and implementing advanced statistical and machine learning models to analyze large datasets and predict future outcomes
• Data-Driven Decision Making: Leading the process of data collection, analysis, and interpretation to inform business strategies and decisions
• Project Management: Managing data science projects from conception to deployment, ensuring they meet business requirements and are delivered on time
• Mentoring: Providing guidance and support to junior data scientists, helping them develop their skills and advance in their careers
• Collaboration: Working closely with cross-functional teams to understand business challenges and translate complex data into actionable insights
• Staying Updated: Keeping abreast of industry trends and advancements in data science and machine learning to continuously improve methodologies and technologies
• Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment).

Requirements:

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience in data analytics, data science, machine learning, or similar roles
• Experience with statistical software like R, SAS, or similar tools
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R14
• Solid skills in SQL for database management and querying
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS for large-scale data analysis
• Solid background in statistics and mathematical concepts
• Ability to perform exploratory data analysis and handle unstructured data
• Proven ability to lead machine learning projects and modeling initiatives
