Research Software Development Engineer Job in Bangalore at Microsoft

Microsoft is hiring for the role of Research Software Development Engineer!

Responsibilities of the Candidate:

• Work with research teams to prototype innovative algorithms and high-performance systems
• Develop tools for experimentation and enabling research
• Work with relevant product and business groups to validate and deploy prototypes
• Develop and maintain a central repository for the project with continuous testing of features, functionality, performance, and reliability
• Review internal and external contributions to the repository
• Coordinate across teams on testing and development of new features
• Present research findings at conferences and publish papers in top academic journals
• Collaborate with researchers from academia and industry to advance the state of the art in computer science

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field/MS or PhD in Computer Science or related field
• Minimum 3-5 years of industry experience working on machine learning or systems software
• Experience working in a research environment 
• Candidates wishing to work on ML/AI projects should have a good understanding of deep learning and large-scale ML concepts
• Candidates with experience in Data Science and shipping ML models into production will be preferred for AI/ML projects
• Candidates wishing to work on Systems projects should have a good understanding and experience in systems software (e.g. database systems or distributed systems)
• Candidates wishing to work on Societal impact projects must have a passion for creating solutions that have a broad population scale impact
