Barclays is hiring for the role of Principal Engineer!

Responsibilities of the Candidate:

• Collaborate in the design, build and enablement of a centralised secure, scalable and performant IAM platform.
• Support the creation and maintenance of the technical roadmap for the evolution of the group-wide IAM platform.
• Coach, collaborate and facilitate colleagues and engineers to design and build a resilient platform, following proven and robust practices.
• Ensure the highest levels of platform security and compliance.
• Optimise platform performance and efficiency.
• Provide feedback and action activities to mature and improve operations and processes within the team and more broadly across the function.

Requirements:

• Mandatory:
  • Hands-on infrastructure (cloud and on-premises) and experienced IAM engineering team member, who contributes to thought leadership, decision-making, mentoring, fostering collaboration and demonstrating excellence through delivery
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with people from both technical and non-technical backgrounds and with people at all levels of the organisation from early careers to senior leaders
  • Broad understanding and interest in IAM technologies, cloud-native infrastructures (public cloud, on-premises and hybrid) and security technologies, capabilities and platform engineering principles
  • Broad understanding and interest in cloud and containerisation technologies
  • A passion for planning and building (starter-finisher) complex and responsive infrastructure for large-scale user workloads
  • A passion for learning and obtaining new knowledge and sharing with colleagues
• Preferred:
  • Experienced in cloud and on-premises-based infrastructure: virtual machines, and containerisation (Kubernetes). network access controls, VPCs, proxies, automated deployment scripts
  • Site Reliability Engineering (automation, observability, incident management, resilience, disaster recovery, high availability, documentation)
  • IAM systems: Directory servers (x.500 / LDAP), access management, identity gateways.
  • Automated script-based deployment and configuration
  • AWS Solution Architecture or DevOps Engineer
  • MS Azure: Solution Architect, Cybersecurity Architect, DevOps Engineer
  • Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform) and Containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • CI/CD: GitLab, Jenkins, Chef, Git
