Responsibilities of the Candidate:
- Develop and maintain standards and best practices for database deployment.
- Build and configure databases, apply patches, and upgrade to newer versions or platforms.
- Provide on-call production support, including creating support tickets with vendors and troubleshooting.
- Develop scripts and jobs to automate database management functions.
- Review, tune, and implement DDL and DML scripts in QA and Production environments.
- Support software engineers and data architects with database changes, troubleshooting, and new features.
- Evaluate and test new database technologies and tools to address growing challenges.
- Set up and maintain viable database backups, failover, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Manage user privileges under policies and standards for security compliance.
Requirements:
- Hold a BE/B.Tech/M.Tech, preferably in Computer Science, from Tier-1 Engineering Institutes.
- Possess experience in automating cluster node provisioning and repetitive operational tasks using tools like Ansible, Chef, or similar.
- Demonstrate expertise in tuning and troubleshooting SQL and query performance.
- Have broad exposure or working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database technologies such as Postgres, MySQL, Shareplex, Oracle Financials, MongoDB, Cassandra, or Hadoop (a definite plus).
- Strong working knowledge of Linux shell scripting, scheduling cron jobs, and basic troubleshooting.
- Extensive knowledge of Perl or Python for scripting is preferred.
- Accumulate 2-4 years of experience in configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting, and tuning Oracle databases for high availability in a 24x7 environment.
- Possess attention to detail and comfort working with large data sets on different platforms.
- Showcase strong analytical skills with high problem-solving capabilities.
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Stay updated with the latest technology and developments in the industry.
