HSBC is hiring for the role of Manager – UK Business Banking Special Credit Unit!

Responsibilities of the Candidate:

  • Rehabilitation of relationships is the primary objective, but if not possible, consensual full repayment is the secondary priority
  • Protection of recurring income streams by seeking to implement turnaround  strategies, where a viable business is evident, and ensuring pricing is appropriate
  • Minimise impairments and forecast future impairments accurately and reliably
  • Minimise financial crime risk via the implementation of the KYC / CDD process.
  • Build a varied network of panel firm advisors
  • Support and guidance in the timely production of clear, concise, and balanced reports which are to demonstrate the adoption of  Global Standards /HSBC’s values and business principles, mainly through Advisory support
  • Impairments are to be predicted, raised, and recovered in a timely manner
  • KYC/CDD to be completed to a high standard and in a timely manner
  • Ensure the fair treatment of customers  by operating and behaving in accordance with HSBC’s values and business principles and the SCU 5Cs (Clear, Consistent, Considerate, Constructive, and Consensual) principles
  • Adhere to the BBSCU Operating Guidelines and ensure all actions are compliant with The Lending Code and HSBC’s Business Banking Terms and Conditions
  • Consistently display the behaviors required to support a “values-based” approach to risk management
  • Work as an integrated member of the BBSCU team
  • Lead, inspire, and motivate colleagues by proactively sharing knowledge, experiences, and best practices
  • Coach and provide development support to Relationship Support Associates
  • Act as an ambassador for BBSCU in developing a strong relationship with key stakeholders including Business Banking/MME / Credit & Risk/CRU
  • Support the Business Banking Leadership Team in delivering a values-based leadership culture evidenced through employee engagement feedback (Global People Survey)
  • Provide the Business Banking Leadership Team with regular feedback on Relationship Support Associate performance and coaching
  • Effective collaboration with other product partners and stakeholders
  • Continually reassess operational risks taking account of the changing economic, legal, and regulatory environment
  • Implement Group compliance policy by working in concert with the relevant compliance department
  • Be able to demonstrate adherence to internal control procedures
  • Ensure effective credit and reputational risk management
  • Identification of potential savings through improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of BBSCU
  • Complete adherence to the Bank’s processes and procedures through the adoption of Global Standards
  • No adverse Group Audit, MCF, Operational Risk Incidents, or Operational Losses.
  • Production of timely and high-quality credit reports

Requirements:

  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to negotiate effectively together with an aptitude to persuade and influence others
  • Networking skills
  • Knowledge of Business Banking / Relationship Management is preferable
  • Credit and risk experience is required and knowledge of CARM and BMM/FVQ is desirable
  • A knowledge of the turnaround industry would be advantageous.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements provided by customers, and implement the information gathered into affordability assessments
