General Manager – Manufacturing & NPD (Defense & Aerospace) Job in Yamunanagar at Chander Group

Key Responsibilities:

Employee Engagement:

• Lead end-to-end manufacturing operations: fabrication, machine shop, welding, precision assembly, and testing.
• Oversee New Product Development (NPD) initiatives for custom-built defense and aerospace systems.
• Prepare and review detailed cost estimations, time projections, and resource planning for complex manufacturing and R&D projects.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO, and other relevant defense/aerospace quality and safety standards.
• Act as the primary point of coordination for strategic clients like NPCIL, BARC, DRDO, RDEE, Indian Air Force, and other defense organizations.
• Develop, implement, and regularly update yearly training and skill enhancement plans for all employees and shop floor workers.
• Conduct or facilitate training programs, workshops, and hands-on technical sessions to enhance capabilities across production, quality, and safety teams.
• Collaborate with HR and department heads to identify skill gaps and build custom learning paths.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and process excellence using Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen techniques.
• Lead project budgeting, CAPEX planning, cost control, and productivity improvement initiatives.
• Drive vendor evaluation, development, and quality assurance for defense-compliant components and assemblies.
• Coordinate with R&D, design, and quality departments to ensure manufacturability and scalability of new products.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s/master’s degree in mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
• 15+ years of experience in manufacturing and NPD for nuclear, defense, or aerospace projects.
• Solid background in cost and time estimation, bid preparation, and techno- commercial proposals.
• Extensive project execution experience for clients like NPCIL, BARC, DRDO, RDEE, or Indian Air Force.
• Practical expertise in precision manufacturing, welding, NDT, CNC operations, and assembly.
• Ability to design and implement technical and behavioral training programs across teams.
• Strong leadership, people management, and inter-departmental coordination skills.
• Knowledge of ERP systems, CAD/CAM tools, and manufacturing resource planning.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

• Certifications in PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or TWI (Training Within Industry).
• Experience in managing large-scale capital equipment and infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with defense procurement (DPP, DPM), government portals (GEM), and compliance.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills for audits and client reviews.
