Foreman – Mechanical (Power Plant Project) Job in Chandrapur at Lloyds Metals & Energy Ltd

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Mechanical Erection Supervision:

• Oversee site execution and erection of:
• Boiler (AFBC / WHRB) – pressure parts, headers, steam drums, support structures, ducting
• Steam Turbine & Auxiliaries – condenser, ejector, oil system, gland sealing system
• Rotating Equipment – ID/FD/PA fans, cooling water pumps, compressors, vacuum pumps
• Piping Systems – steam, feed water, condensate, oil, air, ash slurry, and utility lines
• Cooling Towers, Chimney, Air Compressors, and DM Water System

2. Team and Work Management:

• Assign and monitor daily work for fitters, riggers, welders, and helpers.
• Plan manpower, tools, and materials as per priority and work front.
• Coordinate with crane operators and rigging teams for heavy lifts and assemblies.

3. Fit-up & Assembly Verification:

• Ensure proper fit-up, bolt tightening, and alignment of mechanical components.
• Verify support installation, spring hanger setting, expansion joints, and anchor points in piping.
• Conduct joint inspection with QA/QC team before welding and pressure testing.

4. Testing & Commissioning Support

• Support in:
• Hydro test, pneumatic test, and flushing of piping systems
• Pre-commissioning of fans, blowers, pumps, and gearboxes
• Boiler light-up, refractory dry-out, turbine barring gear trial, and rolling
• Assist in punch point clearance and mechanical readiness before synchronization.

5. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all activities comply with site safety procedures:
• Work at height, confined space entry, lifting/rigging safety
• PPE usage and job safety analysis (JSA)
• Conduct daily toolbox talks and enforce safety discipline at site.

Technical Skills Required:

Practical knowledge of:

• Boiler mounting, valve installation, pressure part alignment
• Turbine auxiliary systems (lube oil system, ejector, oil centrifuge)
• Welding joints, support fabrication, anchor bolt grouting
• Understanding of IBR and non-IBR piping erection

Ability to interpret:

• Mechanical GA drawings, isometric piping layouts, P&IDs, and erection drawings

Tools & Documentation:

Proficient in using:

• Alignment tools, torque wrenches, precision measuring instruments

Maintain:

• Daily progress reports (DPR)
• Fit-up and torque records
• Work permit logs and test reports

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle multiple contractors and ensure timely execution
• High focus on safety, quality, and housekeeping
