American Express is hiring for the role of Financial Analyst!

Responsibilities of the Candidate:

• Partner with Risk and Finance teams on cross-enterprise strategic initiatives by driving key analytics to inform business decisions.
• Drive awareness of data/insights/market/portfolio trends across businesses and proactively identify opportunities for analysis.
• Develop skills: Mining and analyzing data to identify credit risk and collections opportunities across portfolios to enhance margins, either through revenue generation or expense reduction (primarily via SQL).
• Provide thought leadership on projects across the Global Risk Finance organization to help AXP meet its long-term growth targets.
• Evaluate Risk projects that span multiple businesses and produce cost/benefit analysis to inform prior prioritization of investment dollars.

Requirements:

• Hands-on experience working on financial analytics using large amounts of data
• Advanced Excel modelling skills and a high level of proficiency in PowerPoint are required
• Proficiency in SQL, Hive/Yellow Brick required; Python preferred
• TM1, Tableau, Power BI or other visualization tools experience is strongly preferred
• BS/MS in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science
• Previous card/risk management experience and/or 1+ years of work experience preferred
• Highly motivated individual with a desire to work on ambiguous projects, with the ability to break down and execute complex ideas
• Be data-driven, outcome-focused and a fast learner
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail
• Ability to explain complex mathematical concepts
• Ability to solve ad-hoc business problems independently and manage multiple priorities and projects while adhering to deadline
