Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment is hiring for the role of Fellow - Landscape Ecology!

Responsibilities of the Candidate: 

  • Augment adoption of fruit plants and sustainable agricultural practices.
  • Improve livelihoods and human well-being and also make substantial contributions to ATREE's endeavours in ecosystem restoration.
  • Foster interdisciplinary practices within biodiversity science to contribute effectively to ATREE's overarching mission.
  • Design, execute, and assess programs aimed at overseeing and organizing initiatives for the cultivation and management of fruit plants to bolster their presence.
  • Foster partnerships with farmers, local community-based groups, government entities, and various stakeholders to expand the proliferation of fruit plants.
  • Spearhead efforts and undertake initiatives aimed at understanding, mitigating, and adapting to the impacts of climate change on diverse ecosystems. 

Requirements: 

  • Working experience of a minimum of two years or post-doctoral experience in practising landscape ecological approaches in improving biodiversity and human well-being in human-dominated landscapes in the tropics
  • The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in designing and conducting ecological studies in diverse landscapes and ecosystems, data analytical skills, GIS, and remote sensing techniques
  • The candidate should be able to communicate complex ecological concepts and findings to diverse audiences, including students, policymakers, and the public
  • The candidate is expected to contribute to ATREE’s teaching (Master’s and PhD courses) and training programs, outreach and other institutional activities
