ITC is hiring for the role of Direct Tax Assistant Manager!

Responsibilities of the Candidate:

• Oversee the calculation, compliance, and reporting of withholding taxes on various payments, including domestic and international transactions.
• Ensure timely and accurate withholding tax filings and remittances in accordance with local and international tax laws.
• Advise internal stakeholders on withholding tax implications for cross-border transactions, including the application of tax treaties and exemptions.
• Review contracts, payment terms, and vendor relationships to ensure proper withholding tax treatment.
• Support the preparation for and management of direct tax audits, liaising with tax authorities and external auditors.
• Respond to tax authority inquiries and manage the submission of relevant documentation for audits and tax reviews.
• Proactively identify areas for improvement in compliance and risk management in response to audit findings.
• Coordinate with legal and accounting teams to ensure appropriate documentation and records are maintained for audit purposes.
• Monitor changes in tax laws, regulations, and judicial rulings affecting withholding taxes, direct taxes, and tax audits, and ensure company policies remain compliant.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless tax compliance and planning.
• Prepare and review direct tax filings, ensuring timely submission and accuracy of information.
• Assist in tax planning initiatives to optimize the company’s overall tax position.
• Provide guidance and training to junior staff on tax processes and compliance matters.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to improve the tax function, focusing on automation, data accuracy, and efficiency.

Requirements:

• Cost Accountant
• 2 to 3 years of experience in direct tax role, with a focus on withholding taxes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read & interpret various commercial legislation and case laws.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret complex tax regulations.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with emerging technologies in tax (e.g., automation, AI, RPA etc.).
