1. Mechanical Maintenance Management:
- Oversee maintenance and reliability of mechanical equipment in:
- Coke Oven Battery & Charging/Discharging Machinery (Pusher Car,
- Charging Car, Quenching Car, Transfer Car)
- CDQ (Coke Dry Quenching) System and Cooling Fans
- Gas Handling & By-Product Recovery Units (Condensers, Coolers, Exchangers, Compressors)
- Material Handling Systems (Conveyors, Crushers, Screens, Feeders, Elevators)
- Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems, Valves, and Actuators
- Ensure smooth and safe running of all mechanical systems to meet production targets and maintain consistent oven performance.
- Supervise daily maintenance activities, breakdown rectifications, and system overhauls.
2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance:
- Develop and implement Preventive Maintenance (PM), Predictive Maintenance (PdM), and Condition Monitoring schedules.
- Analyze equipment performance data and initiate actions for reliability improvement.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for chronic mechanical failures.
- Implement lubrication programs, vibration analysis, and thermography practices.
- Ensure availability of critical spares and consumables in coordination with Stores and Purchase departments.
3. Shutdown & Major Overhauls:
- Support and supervise electrical installation, commissioning, and modification projects.
- Implement automation and modernization initiatives (VFD, PLC/DCS integration).
- Prepare technical specifications and assist in vendor evaluation and equipment procurement.
- Ensure project execution within budget, schedule, and safety norms.
4. Project & Modification Works:
- Lead mechanical aspects of capacity expansion, modernization, and revamp projects.
- Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and vendor proposals.
- Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems and equipment.
- Introduce technological upgrades for improved efficiency, automation, and reliability.
5. Energy Conservation & Cost Control:
- Drive initiatives for power and fuel efficiency in mechanical systems (CDQ waste heat utilization, friction loss reduction, etc.).
- Monitor and control maintenance expenditure within budget limits.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities through indigenization, repair vs. replace decisions, and resource optimization.
6. Safety, Health & Environment (SHE):
- Ensure strict adherence to Safety Standards and SOPs for mechanical maintenance activities.
- Implement Permit to Work (PTW), LOTO, and Risk Assessment procedures.
- Ensure all lifting tools, tackles, and pressure vessels are tested and certified as per statutory requirements.
- Drive awareness and participation in 5S, safety audits, and incident investigations.
7. Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, and Technicians.
- Promote a culture of discipline, accountability, and skill enhancement.
- Conduct training sessions on maintenance best practices, safety, and reliability engineering.
- Build strong inter-departmental coordination with Operations, Utilities, and Projects teams.
8. Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain updated records of equipment history, maintenance logs, and inspection reports.
- Prepare MIS reports on equipment availability, breakdown trends, and maintenance KPIs.
- Ensure accurate technical documentation, including drawings, data sheets, and OEM manuals.
- Track and report MTBF, MTTR, downtime, and spares consumption.
Qualifications:
- B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering from a recognized university.
- Sound understanding of electrical systems, protection, and automation in process industries.
Key Equipment Exposure:
- Coke Oven Machines: Pusher Car, Charging Car, Transfer Car, Quenching Car
- CDQ: Cooling Chambers, Fans, Waste Heat Boilers, Conveyors
- Gas Handling: Compressors, Exchangers, Condensers, Gas Cleaning Units
- Material Handling: Belt Conveyors, Chain Conveyors, Crushers
- Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems
- Cooling Water Systems, Pumps, and Piping Networks
Qualifications:
- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Sound knowledge of Coke Oven, CDQ, and By-Product Plant mechanical systems, codes, and standards.
Experience:
- DGM: Minimum 18–22 years of experience in mechanical maintenance of Coke Oven / Ironmaking / Process Plant in an Integrated Steel Plant.
- AGM: Minimum 14–18 years of experience with proven leadership in mechanical maintenance and projects.
- Experience in Coke Oven machine maintenance, CDQ systems, and By- Product Plant is essential.
Technical Skills:
- Maintenance of rotating and static equipment (motors, pumps, fans, compressors, exchangers).
- Proficiency in hydraulic/pneumatic systems, alignment, and vibration analysis.
- Understanding of CDQ operation, gas handling, and waste heat recovery systems.
- Familiarity with SAP PM, AutoCAD, MS Office, and digital maintenance tools.
- Knowledge of ASME / IS mechanical codes and preventive maintenance standards.
