1. Electrical System Management:
- Ensure reliable operation and maintenance of all electrical installations across the Coke Oven complex, including:
- Power Distribution Panels (HT/LT)
- Transformers, MCCs, PCCs, Drives (VFDs), and Motors
- CDQ Fans, Gas Blowers, Conveyors, Quenching Towers, and Pushers
- Gas Recovery Compressors and By-product Handling Systems
- Manage 33kV/11kV/6.6kV substations and ensure uninterrupted power supply to all process areas.
- Maintain strict control over power quality, voltage regulation, and harmonics within permissible limits.
2. Maintenance Planning & Execution:
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance plans (PPM) for all electrical assets.
- Lead breakdown analysis and RCA (Root Cause Analysis) for minimizing equipment failures.
- Ensure timely calibration, testing, and maintenance of protection relays, circuit breakers, and switchgear.
- Plan and execute shutdown maintenance activities in coordination with operations, mechanical, and instrumentation teams.
- Maintain updated maintenance history and reliability data through SAP or CMMS.
3. Project & Modification Works:
- Plan and supervise electrical installation and commissioning of new systems, upgrades, and modernization projects.
- Coordinate with EPC contractors for CDQ, Battery, and By-Product plant electrical systems during expansion or modification.
- Implement automation, VFD optimization, and energy-saving initiatives.
- Prepare technical specifications for procurement of spares, panels, and equipment.
4. Energy Management:
- Monitor and control specific power consumption (kWh/t coke) for Coke Oven and CDQ areas.
- Implement power factor improvement and demand control measures.
- Conduct energy audits and support ISO 50001 – Energy Management System compliance.
- Drive initiatives for LED lighting, motor efficiency upgrades, and load balancing.
5. Team Leadership & Skill Developmentl:
- Lead a team of Engineers, Supervisors, Technicians, and Shift Electricians.
- Ensure effective deployment, training, and performance monitoring of the team.
- Develop competency in PLC/DCS troubleshooting, drives maintenance, and automation systems.
- Foster a culture of discipline, accountability, and teamwork.
6. Coordination with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Work closely with:
- Operation team – for power load management and maintenance coordination.
- Mechanical / Instrumentation teams – for interlinked maintenance activities.
- Utilities / Power Plant – for power distribution and load scheduling.
- Safety & Environment departments – to ensure electrical safety compliance.
- Ensure quick restoration of power and system stability during plant upsets.
7. Safety, Health & Environment (SHE):
- Ensure strict adherence to Electrical Safety Standards (IS/IEC) and plant SOPs.
- Implement LOTO, PTW, Arc Flash Prevention, and Earthing Systems across the plant.
- Regularly inspect substations, cables, panels, and lighting for hazards.
- Participate in Safety Audits, Risk Assessments, and incident investigations.
- Promote safety awareness and conduct toolbox talks regularly.
8. Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain updated documentation for:
- Single line diagrams (SLDs) and circuit drawings.
- Maintenance logs and breakdown analysis reports.
- Power consumption and energy reports.
- Inventory management and spare planning.
- Prepare MIS reports, monthly performance summaries, and audit documents.
Key Equipment Coverage:
- Coke Pusher Car, Charging Car, Quenching Car electrical systems
- CDQ system drives, fans, and waste heat recovery electricals
- Gas Handling and By-product recovery systems
- Hydraulic system power packs, conveyor drives, and material handling motors
- Lighting, communication, and earthing systems
Qualifications:
- B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Knowledge of Indian Electrical Codes (IE Rules, IS 732, IS 3043, IS 5571, etc.) and IEC standards is mandatory.
Qualifications:
- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Sound knowledge of Coke Oven, CDQ, and By-Product Plant mechanical systems, codes, and standards.
Experience:
- DGM: Minimum 18–22 years of experience in electrical maintenance of Coke Oven / Ironmaking / Process Plants within an integrated steel plant.
- AGM: Minimum 14–18 years of experience in similar functions.
- Experience in CDQ, By-Product Plants, and Power System Reliability is essential.
- Exposure to automation (PLC/DCS – Siemens/ABB), SCADA, and VFD systems is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
- Operation & maintenance of HT/LT electrical systems (up to 33kV).
- Hands-on with Protection relays, Drives (ABB/Siemens), PLC/DCS troubleshooting, and switchgear testing.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency, power quality analysis, and motor diagnostics.
- Familiarity with SAP PM module and MS Office for documentation and reporting
