Database Manager Job in Bangalore at BT Group

• Oversee the management of the Pan-BT Record Retention and Data Archival framework and operations.
• Own and oversee the record retention schedules and how they are applied across all of BT (180 countries often with more than 200 record types per country) including local sovereignty (where data must be archived within a specific location or region) where sovereignty requirements come from the Legal and Privacy team’s interpretation of international data sharing law.
• Work with the data engineering teams on strategic access controls, the Retention and Archival Management Manager ensures that the justifiable duration against purpose is included in the request to be able to access and use the data on an ongoing basis.
• Work with the DQ, Marketplace, Privacy and Trusted Source EA to understand the Systems of Record for specific data sets and record types, where minimum retention requirements apply principally to the System of Record. 
• Work alongside the Data Fabric team to help them deliver the facility to automate some aspects of the application archival operating model and support the closure of many hundreds of business facing applications. 

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience of data management ideally with certifications in one of the best practices like DCAM / CDMC / DAMA - CDMP 
• Demonstrable experience of working with industry leading data management catalogs 
• Ideally, but not mandatory some familiarity with Business Architecture Guild (BABOK)
• Greater than 2 years working in record retention and / or records management and related activities.
• Implemented or supported implementation of Data, Operations  and Governance best practices 
• Direct or indirect experience of data modelling (physical, logical, conceptual) – including analytic classic star / snowflake schemas
• Experience of legacy migration of EDW to cloud based solutions (nice to have)
• Knowledge of Big Data and Cloud Data Platforms (Hadoop , GCP ,AWS) (nice to have)
• Experience of Data Engineering and Data Movement (ETL,ELT,CDC,Kafka) (nice to have)
• Ability to communicate in both the business jargon and the technology jargon, and translate effectively between the two.
• Experience in performing capability gap analyses.
