Data Taxonomy Specialist will be responsible for designing the product taxonomy, defining product attributes, and ensuring quality and integrity for product data. The role will support projects and optimize product attributes for the overall product taxonomy. The ideal candidate will also support other requests from across the organization for changes necessary to support various business functions. The role will be responsible for conducting competitive/industry research, building product knowledge in assigned categories, and planning/executing changes to product attributes and the product taxonomy. The successful candidate combines commercial and product-focused thinking with strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and analytical skills. Our taxonomy team curates products taxonomy for a catalog of over 1.2 billion items.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Curating product types, attributes, and values across all verticals.
• Working with other teams to assess front-end experience needs.
•  Working with data science to assure high classification accuracy.
• Advising stakeholders on the best usage of the taxonomy.
• Analyzing the catalog and advising solutions to improve data accuracy.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Metadata and taxonomy best practices.
• Mapping various product concepts to internal structures and create new structures.
• Understanding how structures may change based on the growth of the catalog.
• Subject matter expertise in at least one product vertical.
• Understanding of nuanced linguistic concepts, especially as they apply to B2B products.
• Excellent command of the English language.
• Good presentation and communication skills.
