Data Privacy Counsel Job in Pune at Veritas Technology LLC

Veritas Technology is hiring for the role of Data Privacy Counsel!

Responsibilities of the Candidate:

• Supporting the ongoing development, implementation, and documentation of the Veritas privacy framework in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Providing subject matter expertise and advice on data protection compliance obligations and privacy matters applicable to the Veritas Group.
• Raising awareness and delivering training to stakeholders at all levels in the organization to promote a positive data protection culture across the Veritas Group.
• Taking ownership of the internal Privacy Impact Assessment process as it applies to Veritas products, services, and third parties on a day-to-day basis. 
• Advising on optimal technical and organizational measures to protect and safeguard personal data in support of the concept of Privacy by Design.
• Acting as a point of contact for data incidents, supporting the management of the same, and escalating to the Head of Privacy for timely advice in relation to breach reporting requirements.
• Maintaining documentation to demonstrate compliance and/or accountability to meet regulatory obligations including but not limited.
• Monitoring compliance with internal policy and the obligations set out in the relevant laws and regulations, including but not limited.
• Supporting procurement as part of the supplier engagement process.
• Supporting customer, commercial, and procurement negotiations as they apply to privacy.
• Assisting in timely response to complaints and subject rights requests for adherence to statutory time limits/appropriate timescales.
• Conducting periodic checks of data protection compliance within the Veritas Group functions, identifying shortcomings, making recommendations for remediation, and advising on risk.
• Maintaining ongoing and current knowledge of evolving global data protection and privacy laws.
• Taking on any other duties that are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.

Requirements:  

• Significant experience in privacy and data protection law in an international commercial environment (minimum of five years).
• Demonstrable experience in managing privacy regulatory matters, compliance reviews, and how it impacts business functions.
• Understanding of the interrelationships between data protection, technology, and security.
• Former tech company experience- good understanding of product design, software development lifecycle, SaaS offerings, and embedding privacy in technology platforms.
• Experience in concurrently managing multiple internal stakeholders and complex projects to tight deadlines.
• Ability to operate comfortably across multiple jurisdictions (Americas, EMEA & APJ). 
• Strong oral and written English communication skills and attention to detail with an ability to communicate in a confident and effective manner to all stakeholders. 
• Recognized privacy qualifications are preferred.
