HSBC is hiring for the role of Data Engineer!

Responsibilities of the Candidate:

• You will be joining as a Data Engineer  as part of a global team. As part of the team you will build, experiment and productionise AI/ML solutions which deliver value to business and clients in close partnership with sales and trading.

• Source internal/external data for cross-asset data applications. Build data dictionary, data staging, integration, permission controls to enable fast data discovery and access.
• Build advanced data analytics for both structured and unstructured data, e.g. time series market data, news, document processing etc.
• Build scalable data pipelines and APIs to enable big and fast data processing for AI/ML applications, e.g. GenAI, NLP and traditional machine learning
• Understanding and contributing to the technical solution from design through to code. Responsibility for ensuring that risks and issues are identified and managed closely to deliver on time and to the required quality standards whilst adhering to the SDLC
• Run post implementation reviews helping to demonstrate success or otherwise of deliveries.

Requirements:

• Proficient in Python in enterprise environment. Proficient in RDBMS/NoSQL databases, e.g. SQL, MongoDB, KDB, PG Vector etc
• Good experience of big data processing, e.g. Spark/BigQuery. Good experience of Cloud platforms, e.g. GCP, Azure
• Good experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins), version control (Git), software testing, and a solid understanding of DevOps methodologies. Good experience of API development and permission controls
• Good knowledge of overall computer science, e.g. programming, distributed computing, OS, security, networks.
• Understanding how to design and build data models, data warehouses, and data pipelines. Experience of other programming languages is a plus, e.g. Java/C++/Javascript.
