Oceaneering is hiring for the role of Data Engineer!

Responsibilities of the Candidate:

• Assist in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines to move data from various sources to the data warehouse or data lake.
• Help integrate data from various internal and external sources, including databases, APIs, and flat files, into centralized systems.
• Assist in data migration projects by writing scripts to move data between systems while ensuring data quality and integrity.
• Collaborate with the data quality team to ensure that data is accurate, consistent, and reliable.
• Implement basic data validation rules and participate in data quality checks to identify and fix data anomalies or errors.
• Assist in the management of databases, including tasks such as creating tables, writing SQL queries, and optimizing database performance.
• Support efforts to ensure efficient data storage, indexing, and retrieval for analytics and reporting purposes.
• Work closely with data analysts, business intelligence teams, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and support their data needs.
• Provide data extracts, reports, and documentation as requested by business users and analysts.
• Assist in creating technical documentation for data models, pipelines, and integration processes.

Requirements:

• Basic understanding of data structures, algorithms, and database management systems (SQL and NoSQL).
• Familiarity with SQL for querying databases and manipulating data.
• Some experience with scripting languages like Python, Java, or Scala for data processing tasks.
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes is a plus.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) or data tools (e.g., Apache Spark, Hadoop) is an advantage but not required.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot data-related issues.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on data accuracy and quality.
• Internship or hands-on project experience in data engineering or a related field is a plus.
• Experience working with data integration tools, cloud platforms, or big data technologies will be an added advantage.
• Familiarity with version control tools such as Git is beneficial.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Relevant coursework or projects involving data management, databases, or data engineering is highly desirable.
