NetApp is hiring for the role of Data & Applied Scientist!
Responsibilities of the Candidate:
- Lead the development and deployment of AI/ML models and systems for data governance using classical ML, generative AI, and AI‑agent approaches
- Develop scalable data pipelines for AI/ML-driven solutions including data curation, automated evaluations, and experimentation platforms
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to integrate AI models into NetApp’s products
- Communicate complex technical artifacts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Work autonomously and proactively introduce open‑source AI innovations into research and experimentation roadmap
- Ensure AI models and systems are scalable, reliable, and performant in production environments
- Build AI/ML products with a strong customer‑focus to deliver impactful solutions
- Represent NetApp in the machine learning community and promote the company’s AI/ML capabilities at conferences or through publications
- Master’s or Bachelor’s in Computer Science / Applied Mathematics / Statistics / Data Science — or equivalent skills (degree optional)
- Strong proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, transformers) and related tooling
- Working knowledge of large language models (LLMs), prompting techniques, fine‑tuning, synthetic data generation — and good judgment on when to use (or not use) LLMs
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams
- Curiosity for AI agents or multi‑agent systems (preferred)
- Understanding of data governance, security policies and compliance frameworks (preferred)
- Experience or contributions in AI/ML conferences, open‑source projects, or Kaggle (preferred)
