The Economist is hiring for the job role of Business Analyst - Finance!

Responsibilities of the Candidate:

• Working closely with Finance Global Process owners and their teams to understand the current state across responsibilities, ways of working, systems, and processes
• Perform suitable analysis to uncover opportunities, problems, and potential areas to target for improvement
• Produce high-quality visualizations of department and team activities at the appropriate level of detail and in the most suitable format to highlight the responsibilities between teams, systems, and processes
• Develop an understanding of the data we hold across both finance and business systems that underpins many of our activities
• Work with Finance leadership to propose and build a roadmap with evidence of potential improvements that match validated business outcomes
• Perform analysis to support prioritization and dependency mapping of all types of improvement initiatives
• Conduct analysis and investigation that generates a consistent understanding or prompts constructive discussion
• Facilitate productive and engaging workshops at all stages of the process with clear aims and outcomes
• Interrogation to understand where and when variations are valuable and discover where they add no value to the business
• Develop trusted relationships with business stakeholders that result in engaging and collaborative sessions

Requirements:

• Demonstrable experience in working with finance teams through an improvement roadmap whether process, system, or data-focused.
• Proven methodologies and techniques for transforming analysis and investigation into suitable visualizations, whether focused on people, systems, processes, or data.
• Ability to recognize when analysis and investigations should go wider than initially expected and the experience to focus and prioritize work.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to constructively challenge and play devil's advocate that results in trusted relationships.
• Experience working with ERP systems and how they can help businesses report and manage business resources.
• Experience in liaising with 3rd party suppliers on behalf of and for the benefit of the business.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills with suitable information at the best level for the audience, including being well-versed in finance taxonomy.
• A highly collaborative work style and the ability to successfully work in a team environment driving collaborative behaviors and psychological safety.
