Eaton is hiring for the role of Associate Engineer: EV Connectors!

Responsibilities of the Candidate:

  • Contribute to designing electrical connectors and terminals for electric vehicle applications.
  • Possess a basic understanding of electronics and electrical fundamentals, with strong skills in mechanical product design using CAD.
  • Derive requirements for overall size, fastening, current rating, protection, and mounting of electrical connectors and terminals.
  • Develop concepts that meet requirements, either as clean sheet designs or enhancements from current product variants within the portfolio.
  • Collaborate with Project Leads to support and execute project activities, ensuring timely project deliverables.
  • Conduct soft and hard benchmarking of competitor products and innovate unique design concepts focusing on compactness, reduced weight, improved heat dissipation, and other differentiated technical attributes.
  • Perform basic calculations for weight, load distribution, and fastener loads to refine connector and terminal designs.
  • Create drawings for concept evaluation, applying GD&T controls to ensure part quality and acceptance of critical features. Link special characteristics to process capability.
  • Apply Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) principles and tools (e.g., B&P diagrams, Scorecard, DFMEA) to deliver robust engineering designs.
  • Release drawings to suppliers for prototypes and production via Change Order/Request in ENOVIA PLM system following standard process routes.
  • Prepare design review documents and assist engineering leads and program managers in New Product Introduction (NPI) execution.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • 0-2 years of experience in the Electrical/Automotive industry focusing on electromechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in mechanical product design and CAD software.
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles.
  • 'Go Beyond' mindset with strong presentation, communication, and leadership skills to drive technical decisions and conclusions.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
