Caterpillar Inc. is hiring for the role of Associate Engineer!

Responsibilities of the Candidate:

• Project, evaluate, specify, and acquire new or replacement machine tools.
• Provide engineering consultation on manufacturing processes, tooling, gaging requirements, and cost/delivery analysis.
• Focus primarily on fixtures for assembly, pressing, work holding, and special tools used in machining and assembly.
• Develop and implement cost reduction programs consistent with Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Provide estimates for designing, processing, manufacturing, and inspecting tooling components to support final product delivery.
• Utilize computerized design and computer-aided engineering tools for job requirements.
• Proficient in materials used in manufacturing tools for engine assembly (e.g., jigs, fixtures).
• Proficient in manufacturing processes of jigs and fixtures (e.g., machining, fabrication, welding).
• Analyze tooling failures, evaluate tool characteristics, and determine requirements.
• Plan factory layouts for effective space utilization due to rearrangement, new processes, or expansion.
• Determine the need for modern facilities and plan assembly processes aligned with CPPD and NPI design changes.
• Transition new products from engineering to manufacturing.
• Engage in creative problem-solving for operational issues, including safety, efficiency improvements, process bottlenecks, and quality concerns.
• Manage projects to ensure efficient and cost-effective systems and processes for producing quality products.
• Provide application, procurement, processing, installation, and capability for new equipment.
• Provide manufacturing technical support in process control and internal certification.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Post Diploma in Tool Design.
• 3+ years in manufacturing engineering, including NPI experience.
• Experience in tool design, designing jigs, fixtures, gauges, etc.
• Proficiency in CREO and AutoCAD.
• Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
• Strong leadership skills with excellent written and verbal communication abilities across all organizational levels.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively both independently and within teams.
• Proficient in data collection, data analysis, root cause analysis, and metric utilization.
• Experience with SAP ERP software and manufacturing execution systems (MES) is advantageous.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, Team Center, and Virtual Build.
