Marriott is hiring for the role of Assistant Manager - Human Resources!

Responsibilities of the Candidate:

  • Assist in interviewing and hiring Human Resource team members with the necessary skills.
  • Help establish and maintains contact with external recruitment sources.
  • Attend job fairs and documents outreach efforts in line with Human Resource Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Network with local organizations to source candidates for current or future openings.
  • Assist in monitoring the candidate identification and selection process, performing quality control.
  • Work with the unemployment services provider, responds to unemployment claims, and reviews provider reports for accuracy.
  • Attend unemployment hearings and ensures proper representation for the property, as needed.
  • Assist with unemployment claim activity reports.
  • Participate in departmental orientation programs, ensuring cross-training for successful daily operations.
  • Coordinate and facilitates new hire orientation programs to create a positive first impression for employees and emphasize the importance of guest service.
  • Ensure attendance by all new hires and leadership team participation in training programs.
  • Maintain effective employee communication channels, develops daily communications, and assists with property-wide meetings.
  • Review progressive discipline documentation for accuracy and consistency, checking for supportive documentation.
  • Utilize an "open door" policy to address employee problems or concerns in a timely manner.
  • Refer employee issues to the Department Manager for resolution or escalates to the Director of Human Resources/Multi-Property Director of Human Resources.
  • Partner with Loss Prevention for employee accident investigations when necessary.
  • Communicate performance expectations in line with job descriptions for each position.
  • Assist in maintaining employee files with required employment paperwork, performance management, and compensation documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures for accessing, reviewing, and auditing employee files and compliance with the Privacy Act.
  • Facilitate random, reasonable belief, and post-accident drug testing processes where applicable.
  • Communicate property rules and regulations through the employee handbook.
  • Ensure safety and security policies (e.g., property removal, lost and found items, blood-borne pathogens, accident reporting, hygiene) are regularly communicated to employees through orientation, meetings, bulletin boards, etc.
  • Assist with periodic claims reviews with the Regional Claims office to ensure timely closure and appropriate reserve levels for open claims.
  • Manage Workers Compensation claims to ensure proper employee care and cost management.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED; 2 years experience in the human resources, management operations, or related professional area.
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related major; no work experience required.
  • Strong understanding of HR policies, procedures, and employment laws.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage recruitment processes, including interviewing and hiring.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols in HR operations.
  • Ability to oversee employee orientation programs and ensure cross-training for daily operations.
  • Experience in managing and facilitating new hire orientation programs.
  • Proficient in utilizing HR information systems and tools.
  • Sound analytical skills with the ability to review and interpret complex data.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to handle changing HR needs.
  • Familiarity with employee communication channels and the development of daily communications.
  • Understanding of performance management and disciplinary processes.
  • Knowledge of privacy regulations and compliance with the Privacy Act.
  • Experience in conducting employee accident investigations and managing Workers Compensation claims.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with HR-related reporting and documentation.
  • Positive attitude, resilience, and ability to react positively to changes.
